Curve Ball

Has life ever sent you a curve ball? Or it seems like life takes a huge u-turn?

Hubbers and I experienced one of these big u-turns the other day.
Baby Buttercup, who we thought was a boy....

IT'S A GIRL!!!!

At my 18 week appointment the Doc asked me if I have already found out the sex and I said yes its a boy. He said lets just double check. The Doc froze an in-between the leg shot. I blurted out- "THATS A GIRL!!". {I had looked up online a couple of months ago the difference between male & female ultrasound photos. Why? Because I am just that crazed} My Doc said he did not see any boy parts that the baby is ALL girl.

I then began to feel so at peace. I had always felt like Buttercup was a girl, and I was so shocked at the gender reveal party that the cupcakes were blue. Then I began to feel so stupid. I had this big party to celebrate that Buttercup was a boy- not a girl. I knew that having an ultrasound done at 13 weeks was so early, but I wanted to believe that I could find out that early. The technician did tell me she was 99% sure the baby was  a boy too. You can ready all about my boy gender reveal here
I joked with my mom on the way to the appointment that the Doc would say it was a girl. I guess my "mothers instinct" was right after all!

Most have been asking if we are upset about the change, but we are so so happy. We have always said- girl or boy it doesn't matter, we just want a healthy baby.

Am I still hesitant to go out a buy a closet full of pink clothes?? Yes a little. Even tho I know in my heart Buttercup is a girl. I have another appointment in 2 weeks so I can just verify.

So heres to our family of 3!

Let Me Explain....

So I know I have been a little MIA..
But cut me some slack!! School has just started and my little preschoolers have all my attention right now.

Things have just been so crazy crazy busy. The 25th was mine and the Hubbers 2 year wedding anniversary too. So we snuck off to San Diego and went camping for the weekend. {And of course we went to a couple thrift stores... we cant help ourselves! Photos to come of our finds}

Since it has been a while I thought I would share some extra special photos today- some recent shot of my niece!! I know every one always says they have the cutest family, but mine really is the cutest.
Look for your self

She makes me melt with all the silly looks she gives

She wasn't so sure about the swing..

Jack giving away some smoochies

I had these yo Gabba Gabba dolls made for her last Christmas at Calliekins on Etsy- Reese is obsessed with them- can't you tell?!?!?!?!

Sewing and Driving

This past weekend was a close friends wedding and I had purchased a dress a couple months ago from Hapa Collective. I have been saving this dress and was sooo excited to wear it, but my cute little vintage dress had some not so cute issues, typical when buying vintage. I had bought it knowing I needed to fix somethings....but you know I got it for a discount!!
And since I do every thing last minute, I was stuck sewing my dress on the way to the wedding! Luckily the wedding was almost 2 hours away so I had time to get the dress in tip top shape.
It was such a cute vintage dress but the hooks needed to be re-sewn and the sleeves did not fit me. I guess woman had skinnier wrists back in the day?!? Simple fixes!!

My supplies{very fancy, I know}
The thread I had was not a totally match but it worked. Plus the thread was vintage so it kinda went with the dress.
Here is the back of the dress, there are little hooks and threading that would keep them together but the loop of threading was ripped
So being the resourceful person that I am I found the perfect hair clip that would work so I could sew the loop over it.

{DONT JUDGE MY NAILS}
Everything was going great- then I moved onto adjusting the size of the wrist and I lost my perfect little clip and spent 5 minutes trying to find it. But you can only look so much when your are strapped in and I had to settle with another clip I found in my car. But this clip did not work as good as the other one and by this time I was starting to get a little car sick form looking down.
You can see I had to open the sleeve up quite a bit... I have round wrists I guess....
Just a minor rip in the shoulder.

Arrived to the wedding minutes before the bride waked down the isle and yes she look AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL. Ashley and her husband did the photos, her website and blog are here.

Don't I have beautiful friends???

They also had a photo booth at the wedding, which I highly recommend for any event, cause they are SO fun! These are the only photos I have of me in the dress, and you cant see all of it but take my word it was pretty.

You have to have a little fun, right?

Birthdays are the Best Days

So if you don't know me {which all subscribers are my family so most reading this already have the inside scoop}, but I'm BIG on birthdays. Its a day, for me a whole month {yes I'm spoiled}, when its all about you! Today is my hubby's birthday so we celebrated with a camping trip up north. We love going to Ventura and San Luis Obispo area. My brother and his wife came along for the fun.

This trip we went to a ranch in Santa Barbara, about 30 minutes from the coast. I was so excited because the campground was at a ranch with horses and it was going to be so much fun. I was seeing rainbows and butterflies in my mind. We arrived, I got out of the car and my weekend of sunshine and horses was ruined by FLIES, a lot, a lot of flies. Miserable amounts of flies. We tried setting up our tents but it was unbearable. My poor dog was choking every 5 minutes because of them- yes it was that bad. So we very quickly packed up and headed to Ventura. We had been camping at a nice campground there a couple times before so we knew there was no flies. YAY!

It was a great weekend of relaxing and shopping. I did not find anything I had to have but my sister-in-law got a great old window{which I forgot to take a photo of}. We made a delicious lunch of mahi mahi tacos with black beans and corn.  Savannah made some yum yum guac too.

Aren't those some yummy looking avocados!

And here is my Jack waiting for Vanna to drop some food under the table

It was a great weekend and I can not wait to go on another trip.
Today being his actually birthday we had a dinner party at my hubby's fathers house. My hubby's fav fav fav team is the LA Lakers. So of course I can't just throw my hubby a dinner on paper plates but I have to go all out with some Lakers decorations.  My mom and sister-in-law- ok I have to stop typing that. I just don't like calling her my 'sister-in-law' it sounds like such an awful title. She is my sister and I'm going to refer to her as my sister cause sister-in-law just sounds dumb and she is my sister. Okay back on track.... my mom and sister actually did all of the setting up! I have the best family in the world and pretty much every one on the planet should be jelly.

My sister makes the most divine cupcakes.

And now introducing one of the most adorable babies in the world... E.M.T.K.

And because I have some of the best friends in the world I even got a present on Jimbo's birthday, told you I am spoiled! I got a Hello Kitty soda that I have been wanting soooo bad!

What's a party with out some silly string???

All and all it was a great day and I am so blessed to share it with friends and family I love.
